| Okay, so lizak is making me do this:
</span>
A: First, recommend to me:
1. three movies:
2. three books:
3. three songs:
4. three (artist, contemporary, manga, us comic, historical, whatever)s:
B:
I want everyone who reads this to ask me three questions, no more, no
less. Ask me anything you want. Do not count to two question unless
thou shall be proceeding immediately to three. Three is the number of
the questions, and the number of the questions shall be three. Do not
count to four, five is RIGHT OUT!
C: Then I want you to go to
your journal, copy and paste this allowing your friends to ask you
anything. Bwahaha, because you're as much of a meme addict as me...

| Ok, so I'm bored, and it's here: fridayfiver
1. What was the first concert you ever attended? How old were you? Where was it?
Let's see here. Discounting, of course, classical music and junky
"let's go to the winery because the parents like jazz" events, I think
the prize goes to A Perfect Circle's 2000 tour (I was 17). They played
at the Paramount, a gorgeous old theatre and definitely my favorite
Seattle venue. I've seen a lot of great stuff there.
2. What was the most recent concert you attended? Where and when?
The Walkmen, at Neumo's on July 13th. Had never been to the old Moe's,
so it was pretty cool to see a show at the recently-resurrected venue.
Plus The Walkmen are just plain cool.
3. Have you ever seen your favorite artist/band in concert? Did the
show live up to your expectations or were you disappointed?
Yes, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Just attending the
concert would've been enough, but the events surrounding it made it
better still. I was VERY lucky to be turning 21 in London on the same
day as David Byrne's first show at the Royal Festival Hall this year -
April 8 - and even luckier that I found out about it and bought tickets
(note the plural. A certain actor who shall not be named will forever
regret 'rehearsal' or whatever those people do for a living.).
I was far too young to have seen Talking Heads in concert, and
had never seen David Byrne live, and with it being my 21st birthday and
all I was pretty stoked. The man puts on a show, that's for certain;
the audience were dancing in the aisles. And I must say that the
acoustics of the RFH were rather welcome. After the show I headed down
to the stage door, because hell, it was my 21st birthday, and I was
going to meet my favorite musician if it took hours. Which it did
(well, an hour and a half). After waiting in the cold forever, out he
came, and even wished me happy birthday and posed for a photo! And
thanks to the kindness of the other guy who survived the wait, I also
have an autographed Stop Making Sense CD booklet - was so nervous that
I was meeting David Byrne, I forgot to ask for an autograph! Whoops.
But it all turned out, and I had a fantastic time!
4. Ever been to a concert where
you were pleasantly surprised at the performance? Ever been to a
concert where you were totally disappointed? Name 'em!
Seeing Tool for a second time at the HORRIBLE Key Arena was very
disappointing. I didn't really think twice about going to an arena show
when I bought the tickets, but I am never doing that again. We got
stuck in the rafters thanks to a Satan
Ticketmaster error and it really was the most dreadful thing. It
sounded like crap, we couldn't see a thing, and we seemed to have
checked the "stoner section" box because it was getting really really
hard to breathe by the end.
Not really the band's fault, but hey. It still sucked.
5. Name five bands that would headline your own personal festival. (Along the lines of Oz Fest or Lollapalooza)
If it could be any bands, regardless of whether they've broken up or
died or whatever, I think the list would have to include:
- Talking Heads
- Clarence Carter
- Rita Coolidge (but she's only allowed to perform All Time High)
- Tom Ze
- Tweaker
It could be a combination awesome music and comedy festival! I actually
kind of hate huge festivals; I would rather see the bands in smaller
venues with better acoustics over the period of a summer than see them
outside in the mud with a bunch of people who showed up at the Gorge
for a Dave Matthews Band concert and became so convinced that they were
born-again hippies that they just set up house under the stage or
whatever those weekend-hippies do. | comments: Leave a comment |
| So this seems to be job/interview offer week, for some strange reason. I've gotten one solid job offer which I can't take, and expect a conversation of a job-related nature in the near future. Both totally out of the blue, as well!
How odd. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Evening!
For whatever bizarre reason I've decided to get me one of these thingies, if only to wreak havoc on the comments pages of friends.
More later. | comments: Leave a comment |
